He took the credits for some of Saitama's most impressive deeds , but I assume the Hero Association takes account of both the strength and number of beaten monsters to estabilsh its ranking, and King spends a lot of time in his appartment, so even if he officially took down ver powerful beings, he just isn't doing enough on the quantity side.

14. J: To answer the question at 3:57, No. That creates a sort of false hierarchy wherein everyone can do everything the person below them can do at the same competency or better. In a real world scenario it would be like expecting the CEO of a construction company to be able to hammer in nails as fast as someone who has spent many years exclusively hammering in nails. In a real world martial arts example it would be like expecting Bruce Lee to be able to bench press as much as or more than Bolo Yeung because he beat him in every fight they ever had. People (or I guess in this case crazy monster aliens) have non-overlapping skill sets which make them more or less accommodated for the position they hold in a hierarchy.
15. J: One of the many themes of this story is that the journey is worth more than the destination. That is why Saitama is eternally unsatisfied, because he never has a journey (an easy journey/one undertaken with his physical destination gifts) to undergo once he arrives at what the thought would be the ultimate destination (being a crazy strong hero). The meta-narrative regarding that theme is Saitama's journey now has nothing to do with power and fighting so much as it does social skills and trying to to acquire the things he desires while facing problems his overwhelming power can't fight (like being bald in a culture that ridicules that, or even in a smaller sense trying to kill a pesky mosquito, a story that serves to reinforce the value of the journey over the short lived payoff of the destination). This theme rolls into some others, like the anti-corporate message since Saitama could be analogous to amazon or some other mega corp who slaughters all competition. My point here is that if the writers were to say something like "oh, he didn't actually achieve the things he did (thus invalidating his journey) he was actually just given his powers from another hero" it would actively work to undermine a major moral of the story. That would be objectively bad writing.

21. Kuro DCupu: Blast is more unknown to the mass than King, yet he ranked #1. Can't see why ambiguity is the reason for his rank. Would be more agreeable that the story behind him ranked #7 is that 7 is simply his favorite number. Have any ever wondered the story why is King even a hero while he prefer to lay low, having no fighting experience, and no motivation at all? This one story is purely my opinion and theory based on King's character. After the even of Vaccine Man, before King become a professional hero, one day he got formally interviewed by HA without him knowing what the interview is about. Maybe he thought it's a survey or something. The atmosphere would be awkward as "King's Engine" is activated at the time, due to multiple men with formal clothing is around watching. Perhaps the interviewer started by talking about hero association in general, BUT feeling nervous, King who wanted to end this interview quickly said "Let's get to the point". The HA mistakenly assume King know what's this all about, leaving a good impression of a man of wisdom. The interviewer then cut to the chase "Then, what's your hero name would be?". Misinterpreting the context of the question, he answered "King" (otherwise, perhaps King is actually his real name?). Next, he was deliberately asked "If we have to put you in rank, which seat number do you prefer?" to which King answer "I like number 7" thinking that he was asked for his favorite number. This answer only further their impression of King, thinking "Aside from being strong, he also know that S class heroes didn't get along and being generous to accept the #7 rank seat!" or something along that line. Satisfied with the answer, the interview ended. The next day... BOOOM! He suddenly an S class hero, ranked #7. And it's all without him even knowing. Also I think the "Hero Rating" data came purely from public poll / opinion that become official that act only for the profit of their sponsor. And that's how King have all 10 for his rating.

28. Mikhail Galatinov: Just my two cents. I don't think Saitama worked really hard, it's even a joke how mundane his workout is in terms of the supers. Just my theory, but their world seems to work on intent rather than reality. Take Crablante for example, he used to be a regular guy, who was obsessed with seafood. Until his passion turned him into a crab monster. Then you have Garou, a man obsessed with becoming a monster. The changes that happened to him over time, turning him onto a monster was the result of his intent, not some external force. I think the same mechanics applied for Saitama. His will or intent to become strong, turned him into the strongest, on desire alone.
